Anise

(Pimpinella anisum) Anise seeds are used for their well know aniseed flavour (hence the name). It is found in sweets such as aniseed balls, liqueurs and medicines. The seeds can also be chewed to sweeten the breath. The leaves can be used for flavouring salads, stews and soups. Sow the seeds between March and May in the final growing position. Anise prefers full sun but needs shelter from wind. Can grow to 30cm in height.
