(Oenothera biennis) Healing herb the seeds of which contain essential fatty acids. A hardy biennial growing to about 4' in height it has attractive yellow flowers, which exude perfume in the late evening. Sow in spring or autumn in a cold frame. Do not cover seeds. Seeds can also be sown directly into final position in autumn. Prefers well-drained soil in sunny position.
