Sacred tree in its native China. Very resistant to pollution and disease. Lightly sandpaper seeds (to allow moisture to penetrate) and soak in lukewarm water for 24hrs. Sow one seed per pot of compost. Cover with coarse grit and leave in cold frame. Germination can take up to 6 months. Grow as a container plant for at least 5 years then select final growing position. Male and female trees needed for fruit production. Choose a final position in full sun with fertile light soil of a good depth.
