(Althaea officinalis) Grows to a height of 150cm. A hardy perennial which has pretty pale pink flowers in autumn. Originally the confectionery (Marshmallow) was flavoured with the root of this plant. Sow in autumn and thin seedlings to 18 inches apart. Protect them from cold during the winter.
Infused Marshmallow root and leaf with added Macadamia butter makes this a very gentle and soothing soap for excessively dry and chapped skin.
